My Dream of You by Nuala O’Faolain
Parts of this book were great. Unfortunately, the overall thread was tedious and plodding. I found it refreshing to read about a middle-aged woman during a renaissance but that wasn’t enough to keep me entertained.

The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway
Wow. A harrowing book that I flew through because the writing was so poignant, so crisp. I love how Galloway grounds you into the memorable characters’ lives as well as the beleaguered city’s. Impressive storytelling.

The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
Vintage Murakami. I still don’t really know what happened in it, but the ride was most worthwhile.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
It’s a classic for very good reason. Just wonderful.

The Powerbook by Jeanette Winterson
I love Winterson’s concise, bold sentences. I really liked this one of hers because it’s so self-aware by being about storytelling. I think the ultimate message is that we all tell stories; it’s how we create ourselves.
